Director’s Newsletter: September 2024

Dear Sunset Academy Families,

As we welcome the beautiful month of September, I would like to take a moment to thank each of you for your continued support and trust in Sunset Academy. It has been wonderful watching our children settle into their routines and grow both socially and academically. Here’s what we have planned for the month ahead and some updates from our center!

Staffing Updates

I’m pleased to announce that Miss Tabatha has taken on the role of co-lead in the Teddy classroom, bringing her expertise and passion for infant care to the youngest members of our community. Her two years of experience with us at Sunset Academy have made her a valued asset in maintaining a nurturing and consistent environment, especially during times of staff transition. We appreciate her dedication and the positive energy she brings!

Classroom Happenings

Our Pre-K classrooms (Black Bears, and Grizzly) have been combined and the children are adjusting well, and we are confident this will provide more opportunities for them to learn and interact with peers. We’re focusing on creative projects, outdoor play, and preparing them for their next big adventure—kindergarten!

We also have exciting news to share—Congratulations to Miss Savannah and Miss Crystele, who are both expecting! We are thrilled for them and their growing families and look forward to celebrating this exciting time with them. Please join us in wishing them all the best!

Reminders for Families

-CACFP Updates: Our center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and we’re dedicated to providing nutritious meals that meet state and federal guidelines. You’ll notice some changes in portion sizes for children based on their age group, as well as adjustments to meal components. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s meals or allergies, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are always happy to accommodate specific dietary needs. We will be reaching out to all families to update the mandatory “Income Eligibility Form” for 2024-2025.

– Seasonal Transitions: With cooler weather approaching, please make sure your child has a jacket or sweater packed in their cubby for outdoor play. Layers are key to keeping our little ones comfortable during the day!

Looking Ahead

– Curriculum Highlights: September’s curriculum will focus on nature, family, and the changing seasons. Children will participate in activities that encourage sensory exploration and creativity through crafts, stories, and science projects. Be sure to ask them what they learned each day!

– Safety First: As the new school year kicks into gear, I’d like to remind all families to please drive slowly in our parking lot and remain vigilant during drop-off and pick-up times. We want to keep our children safe!

Thank you again for choosing Sunset Academy. We are so proud to be part of your child’s early education journey and look forward to all the wonderful moments ahead this fall.

Warm regards,

Samantha
