Dear Pre-K 2 Parents,
I would like to thank you very much for coming to our Halloween party and contributing food to share. You made the party fantastic! I wish you and family a wonderful holiday season!
October Highlights: we learned about 5 senses and made Texture Boards, Sensory Bottles, and Kazoos to take home; we also talked about how sounds travel in air and why we can hear sounds. During the week of Dental Health/Hand Washing, we talked about what germs are, 5 Tips to Keep You Smiling, and Steps of Hand Washing. Fire Safety is always one of our favorite topics. We practiced an important fire safety skill: Stop, Drop, and Roll! During the week of Halloween, we explored our pumpkins with 5 senses and carved a Jack-o-Lantern as a fun Halloween decoration in our classroom. We also learned about the Parts of a Pumpkin and made Goofy Goggles, Ghosts, and Pumpkin Catapults. In addition, we worked very hard to practice songs in English and Chinese for the Halloween party. In STEM, we learned about what living/nonliving things are and made our own mini books “Needs of Living Things”. We also talked about what a structure is, structure foundations, beams and joists, columns, X-braces, twist and fold, arches and domes. As well as, we conducted some experiments of these basic structure designs to show how they work. Your student also designed their own structures in drawing on paper and then turned them alive by joining the recycling items together. AMAZING DESIGNS! In Math, we learned about AB, ABC, and AABB repeating patterns and Growing Patterns. In literacy, we studied 4 letters (Cc, Kk, Ee, and Hh) and their sounds; sight words created with letters Ss, Aa, Tt, Ii, Pp, and Nn; rhyming words; syllables of your student’s name; and reading “Five Little Pumpkins”. Your student did a fabulous job in learning this month. I am so proud of them. We work together very well every day! Thank you, my kids!
