Hello Black Bear Parents!Happy September! I have sincerely enjoyed getting to know the unique personalities and interests of your children that last few weeks as new Black Bears. They did a wonderful job on their posters and presenting. You could tell they were so eager to share about themselves and their families. My favorite was hearing what they wanted to be when they grow up!Their smiles and curiosity warms my heart and it has been truly amazing to see such positive relationships and interactions developing between all of the children. We truly feel like a Black Bear Team! Go Team Black Bears! In addition, I am happy to report that I believe Ms. Guolie and myself have developed a great routine and teaching dynamic between the two of us when we are combined classes and the children seem happy and already used to the daily routine of transitioning back to the Black Bear classroom for small lessons and nap time. I agree that it is a great, innovative approach that promotes positive development of your children. I personally love having big circle time together, as I can already see their eager minds grasping learning the days of the week, months, weather and songs together as one big class. Going forward, We will continue to work on learning the alphabet and sounds of each letter, attempting to work on two letters each week as well as, numbers in our Black Bear classroom. Next week we will start on the letter “B” and “C”! My plan is to make our own alphabet soup cans for each letter! If you have any extra clean, dull on the edges tin cans from dinner (green bean cans, etc) please feel free to bring them to school and your children can have fun decorating and begin our alphabet soup collection! They will be able to fill their “B” cans with objects that start with the letter “B”! In addition to our literacy lessons, we will be focusing on buoyancy, density and water displacement for our science lessons! I have created a poster that the kids will have fun taping objects to on their own after they have fun discovering what items in the classroom float or sink. For math, we will go over the various ways we can count such as, using our fingers, saying the numbers out loud, and moving objects.
