Dear Black bear Parents
Just a friendly reminder that we are an EPI pen classroom. We currently have children who are allergic to eggs, nuts and gluten. Please avoid bringing those items into the classroom so we don’t cross contaminate and make an unhealthy or challenging environment for the children.
February 7th we’ll be having a 100 days of school party. The children can wear pajamas. We will have popcorn and watch a short movie to celebrate that we are a 100 days wiser.
February 14 we’ll be having a valentines day party. We currently have 16 children enrolled. Please provide 16 valentines with just your child’s name written on the valentine. The Valentines day party is from 3:15 to 4 since it is an early release day. Please buy commercial so that we have the ingredients for the treat. Thank you!
This month the children have been introduced to a Kwl chart. The first step is to write down what we know about Ground hogs day. The second step is what we want to learn about groundhogs. We decided to look at shadows. We have measured the shadow of the groundhogs we made. We learned the bubbles don’t leave shadows. We talked about how we can make more than one shadow. Friday the children will reflect on what they have learned.
Have you ever wondered what happens at Circle time? Circle time is when we do the majority of learning for the day. We start our circle time picking a kid of the day, who’s the classroom helper. The children all get a turn and we just draw names out of a can. The child counts all the girl and all the boys. Then is asked if there are more boys than girls? The kid of the day then stands in the circle and receives compliments from the other children. We then open up a discussion on how we are feeling and using the right emotion to share how they are feeling about things happening in the classroom. When I tell Sally to stop taking the doll away from me. She is not listening to my words and that is frustrating. Maria and I want the children to know how to make a friend, how to ask someone to play? And to stand up for themselves. In an environment that they know and feel safe in. We then move onto movement our new favorite is making patterns using our voices loud and soft, elbow, tummy, tummy, elbow. We play listening games and following directions as well as learning our right from our left. We sing about the letter of the week and make the sounds and make the letter in the air. Last but not least is the calendar. We still confuse our days and months but it’s getting better. We sing the days and months. We count by 1,5 and 10s.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s life!
Leanne and Maria
