Welcome to a new school year! I want your child to have a wonderful experience in Black bears 2. I believe that all children can and want to learn. As an educator, my goal is to help your child to be an independent, lifelong learner. I want to develop and maintain “I can “and “I will try” This positive attitude promotes success and happiness.
What is happening in September?
September 3- 6 Apples In the stem portion of the lesson plan. In the sensory table we will have measuring cups, split peas, and apples. We will ask the question “why do apples turn brown”.
We will take apple rings and make our own apple donuts. The letter of the week is T. We will end the week doing our first Stem Challenge. Creating a structure that holds 10 apples on top.
September 9- 13 Where we live. We will look at maps and where we live to other parts of the world.
In Social studies we will create a book about what city, county, state, country and continent. We will look at what is in my neighborhood a park, school, and library.
September 16-20 Community helpers in math the children will roll the dice and pull out that amount of blocks and see what he or she can build. In Science the children will be creating a stethoscope by cutting out the bottom of a cup and listening to a friend’s heart.
September 23-27 fall in language arts we will create a letter tree, in the sensory table we will create a fall sensory bin with popcorn, pine cones, leaves and different tweezers.
New to the classroom:
Visual discrimination skills: this skill helps children distinguish between similar letter shapes such as P, q, b, d as well as similar shapes and numbers.
Kid of the day: Kid of the day is a great way to build self-esteem. The kids of the day is the teacher’s helper line leader. The child who is chosen for kid of the day stand in the middle of the circle and gets to pick three friends to give him a compliment.
Donations:
Black bears are in need of dress up clothes, if you have any dresses, purses, men’s ties and men and women’s shoes and hats that we can add to our dress up area. It would be much appreciated.
Thank you
