Dear Parents,
Well the summer sure came and went quickly! Now it’s time to go back to work with the children. The new school year promises to be full of fun, friendships, learning, and growth! We will be spending the month of September on All About Me, Friendships, Community Helpers, and Fairy Tales.
- Weekly Focus (8/31-9/6)
- Letter S
- Number 1
- Shapes: Diamond
- Colors: Black
- Sight word “A”
- STEM: Reduce, reuse, and recycle
- Social and Emotional: Listening to my body. The children listen to their body when they are mad and their stomachs feel tight. What strategies can I use to calm myself down?
- Science: Mixing colors
- The children will write their name everyday.
- Answer a daily question.
- Start classroom community jobs.
We will be creating small groups that will happen during center time. Our weekly focus for the week of August 31 is:
Monday: Literacy
Tracing the letter “S”
Creating an “S” book
Tuesday: Math
Math journals
Wednesday: Science
Mixing colors
Thursday: Literacy
Sorting objects that start with S and those that don’t.
Friday: Math
Writing the number 1 and creating a number 1 book.
I will be sending out a “weekly focus” email by Sunday on the upcoming week’s weekly focus.
We made it through the first couple of weeks of school! We have a wonderful group of children and we’re all adjusting well!
We have been concentrating on routines and rules. It is a lot for the children to take in and adjust to. We will, of course, continue to work on this process. Please talk to your child about using an inside voice and listening to their friends; this will help reinforce what we are practicing in the classroom.
Classroom Donations:

Important dates:

Wednesday, September 30: Harrison’s Birthday.
Thank you,
Leanne & Sarah
