October will be filled with much learning involving health and safety and community helpers. A big focus will be on which community helpers are involved with our health and safety. 911 recognition is so important. We will learn how and  why we call, and who comes for which incident.

Unfortunately due to Covid I am not able to have a visit from the dentist, the police department or the fire station sadly. Your children will still practice stop, drop, and roll, get out stay out, Crawl low and planning for a fire escape. Please have a conversation about where to meet with our parents in case of a fire at home. We have regular fire, tornado, and lock down drills at school.

Stranger awareness and gun safety will be included.

We will be learning about bats and spiders at the end of the month as we decorate our classroom for Halloween. Safety will be a big topic here too.

We will have finished our vowel sounds and will be moving onto consonant sound and recognition.

October 21 will be Fall photos. These include individual, sibling, and class pictures.

October 29 at 4 PM Sunset Academy would love to have a Trunk or Treat. We are looking for one parent volunteer per classroom to arrive with a decorated trunk to pass out the treats in the parking lot. We are also asking all the other parents to provide non-choking small items and nut free treats. The last time we did this was so fun and a huge success we’re looking forward to doing it again this year.

Please remember to update your child’s
extra clothes for new season. Sure got chilly quick in the mornings.
