Brown Bears- December 2024

Happy December and Happy Holidays!

We are coming to the end of the 2024 school year and are happy that we have the opportunity to create more special memories with our Brown Bear students. We look forward to the fun Winter activities that we have planned and to the fun celebrations and discussions that will occur this month. Please read through the entire newsletter as it will have information about our holiday party and other important dates. Thank you!

What is Jólabókaflóð?

In Iceland, Jólabókaflóð (Christmas Book Flood) is a tradition that occurs Dec 24th. It is the exchanging of books as gifts. Families and friends, purchase books and then spend the evening before Christmas reading together. We’d like for our class to partake in this tradition!

We are asking for each student to bring in a (wrapped)  book to exchange with another classmate on the 22nd.

We will have a sign-up sheet for those who would like to participate so we know which names to add to the list. The names on the list will be randomly chosen by students so they know who to buy a book for prior to the exchange. If you will be gone the 24th, you can bring a book early and we’ll leave the exchanged one in the student’s cubby.
