Hello Fall!
We have a busy fun filled month ahead for Community Helpers month.
The month begins with learning about Health and Safety. Keeping our bodies healthy by eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep will help us become smart and strong.
We are fortunate to have the firefighters visit our classroom @ 10;00 on October11. We will have spent the week learning about fire safety. Your child will be taught Stop, Drop, and Roll, Get Out/Stay Out, and Stay Low before our visitors arrive. 911 is an important number they’ll know including when, why, and who they’ll need for help. Everyone should discuss a meeting place at your home if ever there was a fire. It is never too early to teach this important information. A past child from Brown Bears alerted her grandmother to call 911 about an outside fire in time after our unit was taught.
The firefighter putting on all the gear and viewing the entire firetruck are quite a highlight.
October 18 a visiting dentist will be at 10:00. Your child will already know to brush in circles with a peas sized amount of toothpaste, at least twice a day, and how to floss. Reminders about limiting sweets and sugary drinks to keep away the sugar bugs too. 3 years of age is the recommended age to be sure to have a check-up. The dentist discusses what will happen during an appointment to ease the worries of any child who hasn’t been to a dentist yet.
The week of the 21st we will learn how the police are our friends and the important jobs they do for our community. Our officer is coming at 10:00 October 31st for his presentation. The children will take turns sitting in his police car flashing the lights and sirens! We will continue to reinforce 911, gun safety, and stranger awareness.
The week of the 28th revolves around how bats and spiders help our earth. They also make great decorations for halloween.
Speaking of Halloween, Sunset Academy will have their 1st Trunk or Treat in our sectioned off parking lot at 4:00, October 31. Our classroom is looking for one parent volunteer to decorate their trunk. All parents that can, are asked to provide healthy NUT FREE store bought treats or non choking size toys for the trunks. Toy ideas are bubbles, play dough, glow in the dark bracelets or necklaces, stickers, rings, balls. Your child can bring their costume to school that day, we will help them change into it before heading to the parking lot. Sunset’s policy is please no weapons or masks.
Lifetouch Photography will be in October 29 and 30th if you’re interested in purchasing photographs of your child.
Please double check cubbies for seasonal clothes now that the weather is cooler.
