We are very excited to let everyone know that our application for Colorado Shine Level 2 has been approved.

We received the following email from Ms. Jamie Kochevar of Colorado Office of Eary Childhood:

Congratulations on reaching Level 2 in Colorado Shines.  We appreciate your hard work and encourage you to continue striving for higher quality. 

So what does this mean?

Colorado Shines Program rates qualities of the Child Care programs in the state. According to the website for Colorado Shines:

Level 2: Your program is licensed and in good standing, plus:

• has a quality improvement plan in place
• has conducted the L2 Quality Indicator Program Assessment
• has registered staff in the Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System (PDIS)
• has completed Colorado Shines Level 2 E-learning Courses

Please join me to congratulate the Sunset Academy staff lead by Ms. Nina and Ms.Stacey.  It is quite an achievement given the short time span since the new management team assumed office.

But we are not going to stop here. Instead, we are striving to reach higher ratings.For higher ratings, the Colorado Shines Program will rate us based on the following five categories: workforce qualifications, family partnerships, administration, learning environment, child health. 

The management will assess which level we want to and can achieve.

For now, let’s celebrate our achievements so far!
