Cubs Newsletter: February 2020

We have a short but full month ahead of us! February is the International Month of Friendship, which we will honor with stories and extra activities to nurture each baby’s social and emotional development. Strong social-emotional development underlies all later social, emotional, and academic success. Young children who develop strong early relationships with parents, family, caregivers, and teachers learn how to pay attention, cooperate, and get along with others.

6 ways to support your child:

  1. Talk about your day. (Your infant is never too young to be spoken to).
  2. Look into their eyes. Make eye contact every time you speak to your baby and notice when they look back at you.
  3. Help your baby find an emotional bond. (Stuffed animal, blanket etc.)
  4. Respond to their cries.
  5. Respond to their baby talk and babble. Give importance to the cooing they make.
  6. Introduce them to other babies.

I would like to introduce our newest teacher, Miss. Katie! She has been working as an early childhood teacher for about 6 years, and has a lot to offer to our infant classroom. Katie enjoys music and participating in a local choir. We are very excited to have Katie join the Cub Team!
