July Cubs Newsletter
Happy July Cub’s families! The 4th of July is right around the corner. Be sure to come and celebrate with the Sunset Family on July 3rd at 4pm. Mr. Eric will be proving the burgers and hotdogs. Please bring a side dish to share. It’s going to be fun for all!
We would like to congratulate our very own Hannah for moving on to the Teddy classroom. We are so proud of you! We will miss your beautiful smile and silliness.
Have you heard the phrase “Back to Sleep, Tummy to Play”? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends putting babies on their backs to sleep and their tummies to play. Why is tummy time so important you ask? Tummy time strengthens baby’s muscles, promotes motor and sensory development and can help prevent flat spots on baby’s head.
Does your baby hate Tummy time? Here are some tips that may help make Tummy time easier.
Tip 1: To make it easier for baby to lift their head, place a rolled up towel or receiving blanket under the baby’s chest and armpits.
Tip 2: Face baby different directions in their crib each night to help develop neck muscles by turning different directions to look at you each morning.
Tip 3: Place baby tummy down on an exercise ball, holding their sides for support. Slowly move the ball towards and away from you allowing baby to lift and hold their head easier.
Tip 4: Babies love faces! Even their own! Use mirrors during tummy time to help keep them engaged and having fun.
I hope these Tummy Time tips help. Remember if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Anette anytime.
Thanks and have an awesome July!
