Director’s Newsletter: August 2021

Can you believe it, August is upon us and the new school year is already here. We hope you all have been enjoying your summer and have been safe and are ready for the final part of the year to come.

We want to say “Goodbye!” to the children who are moving on the first grade and kindergarten. May your school years ahead be as happy and fruitful as the ones in Sunset Academy!

Sunset Academy welcome you back during fall, winter, and spring breaks, and of course, for the summer camp!

For the rest of the students, staff should have contact you as to which room your child will continue into the new school year. If you have any concern, please talk to the staff.

AnAnnual Equipment fee  will be charged on August 16th for all children. Parents registered since the summer of 2021 will not be billed until August 2022.  Our new tuition rate takes effect on August 16, 2021 as well. Tuition rates are published here.

As a reminder, we are having our staff meetings on the 2nd Friday of each month. This is for staff training and development like we accomplished prior to COVID. We will be closing at 4:30 p.m. on those days. Dates are posted at the check-in area. August 13th will be our staff meeting this month.

With the increase in cases due to the Delta Variant, CDC is now recommending that even vaccinated people mask up while in indoor settings. Please be sure to do your part to keep yourselves and your families safe.

Thank you, parents, for your precautions keeping your child at home when sick or not feeling well. We know the extra stress this creates, but as you all know it is required to keep everybody safe and healthy. We truly appreciate you all.

HEALTH ALERT:

Upper Respiratory/Flu/Allergy Symptoms

Please be aware we are seeing the following symptoms at the center that could be attributed to other illnesses or conditions. These symptoms are also consistent with minor symptoms of COVID-19:

● Runny nose or congestion

● Sore throat

● Muscle or body aches

● Headache

● Fatigue

● Nausea or vomiting

● Diarrhea

At this time, the center must follow the Return to Learn Guidance from the State. The following guidance will be used to determine when a child experiencing the above symptoms may return to child care:

● Symptoms have resolved within 24 hours of onset.

● Symptoms resolved in 48 hours without any major symptoms of fever, new/worsening cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.

● If all symptoms have resolved or are improving, the center will follow their regular illness policies.

This is a reminder to keep sick children home where they can rest and convalesce.

Thank you!
