Employee Annual Training Requirements
All Sunset employees are required to have 15 clock hours of continuing education to include 3 hours in social and emotional classes each year starting with your hire date and annually thereafter. Training hours completed can only be counted during the year taken and cannot be carried over. See “Educational Reimbursement” for details on reimbursement for these classes.
The training requirements include specific trainings and annual clock hours. Please use the chart to learn more about the specific training requirements and how to complete them. To meet the annual clock hours training requirement all licensed child care providers are required to have 3 clock hours of training focused on social emotional development and 12 clock hours of training focused on these 8 competencies:
- Child growth and development, and learning or courses that align with the competency domains of child growth and development
- Child observation and assessment
- Family and community partnership
- Guidance
- Health, safety and nutrition
- Professional development and leadership
- Program planning and development
- Teaching practices
