Free Food for Children: Supporting Growth and Development at Sunset Academy

At Sunset Academy, we understand that Free Food for Children is essential to promoting healthy growth, learning, and well-being. Through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), we proudly provide all children in our care with three nutritious meals daily—breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack—at no cost to families. This program ensures that every child at our Colorado center receives balanced, wholesome meals to fuel their day.

Daily Access to Free Food for Children

Thanks to the USDA Food Program, Sunset Academy offers Free Food for Children through breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day. These meals meet USDA’s strict nutritional guidelines, ensuring that children receive whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins—everything young children need to support growth and development.

Studies show that children who enjoy nutritious meals are more engaged, focused, and ready to learn. Through the USDA Food Program, Free Food for Children is accessible to every student at Sunset Academy, regardless of their family’s financial background. For more information on USDA CACFP guidelines, visit Colorado CACFP resources.

Financial Benefits for Families

The USDA Food Program provides Free Food for Children without adding financial stress to families. Based on household income, families qualify for reimbursement levels: No Needy, Reduced, or Free. This structure ensures that those who need it most receive assistance, allowing children to benefit from balanced, nutritious meals at no cost. Please cooperate with us when we ask you to fill out a qualification form.

To continue offering Free Food for Children at no charge, Sunset Academy will ask parents to complete a confidential income form, which determines their eligibility for free or reduced-price meals. This form allows us to maximize our USDA reimbursements, enabling us to provide healthy meals for all children without financial barriers.

How Free Food for Children Supports Learning and Development

At Sunset Academy, our focus on Free Food for Children goes beyond nutrition; it’s essential to learning and development. We see every day how access to nutritious meals—starting with breakfast—supports children’s energy, attentiveness, and ability to participate in the classroom. Research shows that children who have balanced meals throughout the day can better manage emotions, stay engaged, and experience academic success.

Encouraging Healthy Eating Habits

By providing Free Food for Children, Sunset Academy also helps build healthy eating habits from an early age. With breakfast, lunch, and snacks that include fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, children explore a range of nutritious foods that lay a foundation for lifelong healthy choices. Our teachers make mealtimes learning opportunities, encouraging children to serve themselves, eat together, and build independence and social skills in a supportive community.

Free Food for Children: An Investment in the Future

Free Food for Children through the USDA Food Program is an investment in our students’ health, education, and futures. Providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks to all children at Sunset Academy not only supports their physical health but also creates a positive, equitable environment where every child can thrive. We’re proud to participate in the USDA Food Program, bringing the benefits of Free Food for Children to our community.
