Koala Bears Newsletter: January 2025

Happy New Year Koala families🎆

We’re excited to kick off 2025 with a focus on two important life skills for our little ones: learning how to wash our hands properly and taking responsibility for cleaning up after ourselves.

Also for the month of january we will continue to do many winter crafts with the children.

Washing Hands:
This month, we’ll be teaching our toddlers how to wash their hands the right way—before eating, after using the diaper changing table, and whenever they are visibly dirty. We’ll be using songs, fun visuals, and hands-on practice to make the process enjoyable and memorable. By the end of the month, our goal is for every child to understand why washing hands is important and to feel confident in doing it by themselves.

We encourage you to reinforce these skills at home. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Handwashing at Home: Turn handwashing into a fun, regular routine with songs or a colorful hand washing chart

Clean Up Time:
We’ll also be learning about tidying up after ourselves. Our toddlers will continue practicing putting toys away after playtime and helping to clean up their dishes once they’re done eating. Through simple, clear instructions and plenty of encouragement, we’re helping them build habits that promote independence and a sense of responsibility. These skills may take time to master, but we’re excited to see the progress they’ll make!

We encourage you to reinforce these skills at home. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Tidy Up Together: Make clean-up time fun by turning it into a game! Use encouraging phrases like “Let’s race to put the toys away!” or sing a clean-up song to make it engaging.

Let’s Keep Germs Away!

As the temperatures drop, we anticipate more friends will be feeling under the weather. To help keep our school community healthy, we ask that you please keep your child at home if they’re showing any signs of illness or are not acting like their usual selves. Symptoms to look out for include:

  • Fever

  • Cough

  • Runny nose

  • Sore throat

  • Diarrhea

  • Vomiting

If your child tests positive for any illnesses, such as influenza, RSV, COVID-19, etc., please inform us right away. This helps us track illness trends and make adjustments as needed to protect everyone.

We understand it can be difficult to arrange for your child to stay home, but it’s important for everyone’s well-being. Thank you for helping us keep classmates and staff healthy this season!😷

PLEASE CHECK CUBBIES

We kindly ask that you take a moment to check through your child’s cubby and take home any toys, artwork, or extra items. To help keep cubbies organized, please ensure that they only contain the following:

  • 1 blanket
  • 1 stuffed animal
  • Extra socks, shirts, and bottoms
  • Winter attire such as hats, gloves, snow pants, and snow boots

REMINDERS

  • Label all clothes: To avoid mix-ups, please be sure all items are clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name.
  • Return borrowed clothes: If your child has borrowed any clothes, please return them as soon as possible, as we don’t have many extras on hand.
  • AM Snack: If your child needs an AM snack, please ensure it is brought in early enough to eat with the class (by 9:15 am).
  • Water Bottles: Please remember to take your child’s water bottle home each day and bring it back the next morning.

Thanks for your attention to these details!
