Panda 1 Newsletter: February 2019

Dear Panda One Families,

We hope everyone is off to a happy and healthy new year!

With winter upon us, and temperatures outdoors steadily decreasing, we ask that you please ensure that your child is prepared with season-appropriate clothing. We recommend a hat, gloves, a heavy coat, pants, socks, and closed-toe shoes; we also request that you provide a pair of snow boots, if possible.

Classroom Updates
We recently welcomed a new teacher, Miss Monique, to the Panda Classroom. She will be assisting Miss Leslie on Panda Two from 9:00AM to 6:00PM Monday through Friday. Please join us in welcoming her to the Sunset Family.

Reminders
Sunset Academy will be closing early, at 4:00PM, on Friday, February 8th for staff training. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up no later than 4:00PM that day, as our staff will not be available after 4:00PM. Thank you in advance.

We would like to kindly remind everyone that we are no longer at liberty to wash the children’s water cups each night. We ask that you please take them home to be washed each evening, and bring them back the next morning. Furthermore, we do not offer in-house laundering of the children’s blankets; we ask that you please take them home every Friday to be laundered over the weekend, and bring them back the following Monday. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Please be sure to label ALL personal belongings (i.e. cups, water bottles, dishes and utensils, clothing, blankets, toys, etc.). We do our very best to keep track of everything throughout the day, and with your help we can ensure that all personal belongings are returned to their rightful owner each evening.

Upcoming Events
Our Valentine’s Day party is scheduled for Thursday, February 14th. A sign-up sheet for snacks and party supplies will be posted on the white board in the hallway just outside of the Panda room door. The children will be decorating valentine boxes early in the week, and they will exchange valentines at the party. To simplify the exchange, we ask that you please only fill out the “From:” field on each valentine, and leave the “To:” field on each valentine blank (i.e. please do not address each valentine to a specific child). That way, the children can exchange valentines with each other independently.

Transitions
Last month, we bid a fond farewell to our old friends Ava and Kennedy as they graduated to Panda Two. Simultaneously, we welcomed several new friends, Gibson, Ella, and Ailey, from Koala Two. This month, Lana will be graduating to the Polar Bear classroom. In her place we will be welcoming Luna from Koala Two. Congratulations on your graduation, friends! We are very proud of you!
