Panda One Newsletter: February 2021

Dear Panda One Families,

We hope everyone is off to a happy and healthy new year!

With winter upon us, and temperatures outdoors steadily decreasing, we ask that you please ensure that your child is prepared with season-appropriate clothing for outdoor play.  We recommend a hat, gloves, a heavy coat, pants, socks, and closed-toe shoes; we also request that you provide a pair of snow boots, if possible.

Upcoming Events

Our Valentine’s Day party is scheduled for Friday, February 12th.  A sign-up sheet for snacks and party supplies will be posted on a clipboard in the lobby near the tablet – there are 10 children total, and we have two children with food allergies in the classroom: an egg allergy, and a nut allergy.  The children will be decorating valentine bags early in the week, and they will exchange valentines at the party.  To simplify the exchange, we ask that you please only fill out the “From:” field on each valentine, and leave the “To:” field on each valentine blank (i.e. please do not address each valentine to a specific child).  That way, the children can exchange valentines with each other (semi-) independently.  Thank you in advance!

Classroom Updates

Ms. Becka returned to the Panda Room last month, and has been working alongside Ms. Maddie on the Panda Two side of the classroom with a combined group of 10 children.  Sadly, Ms. Cassandra has moved on to greener pastures, and will not be returning to Sunset Academy.  However, we will be welcoming a new teacher, Ms. Nicole, to the Panda Room at the end of the month.

Friendly Reminders

Please be sure to label ALL personal belongings (i.e. cups/water bottles, dishes and utensils, clothing, blankets, toys, etc.).  We do our very best to keep track of everything throughout the day, and with your help we can ensure that all personal belongings are returned to their rightful owner each evening.

Transitions

Last month, we bid a fond farewell to our friend Destiny as she graduated to Ms. Gloria’s Polar Bear Classroom.  Simultaneously, we welcomed a new friend, Cairo, from Koala Two.  This month, Finn will be moving to Polars, and we will welcome a new friend, Lucien (and family), from outside of the Center.  Congratulations on your graduation, freinds!  We are very proud of you.
