Polar Bears Newsletter: March 2020
Dear Parents,
Please help me give a warm welcome to Miss Brooke, Teddy, Vincent, Katelynn, Melody and Rosalia to Polar Bears! Welcome friends, I am so excited to getting to know you and learning with you!
February was a busy month for Polar Bears! We had such a great time exploring the science of shadows. They learned that a shadow is created by using a light source such as a flashlight or the sun and that a shadow is made when an object blocks the light. The children made shadows with their bodies and with other objects. Further, they became familiar with words such as shadow, light, bigger, smaller, closer, and farther to describe and talk about the shadows. Also in February, the children learned about Valentine’s Day and how people celebrate the special holiday. Next, we explored animals that live in the jungle as we slithered like snakes and danced like giraffes. Further, we ended February with a unit on nutrition, as we explored different fruits and vegetables and noticed that fruits and vegetables come in a variety of colors. In addition, the children used their sense of taste as they tried an avocado and several types of apples such as an Opal, Honeycrisp, and Granny smith.
The topics for the month of March are:
Week one: Dr. Seuss
Week two: Under the big top
Week Three: St. Patrick’s Day/ spring
Week four: Dinosaurs
Lastly, I still need a family photo to display in our classroom. If it will help, I would be glad to take a photo when your child is dropped off or picked up.
Important dates and reminders:
March 13th early closure at 4:00pm
Please label your child’s belongings and bring extra clothing. In addition, dress them in appropriate clothing as we go outside in all kinds of weather.
Sincerely,
Miss Gloria and Miss Brooke
